Check out an excellent Flash recreation of the ident animation of this (and many other) TV logos at http://625.uk.com/tv_logos/flash.htm

'created by an 'in-house' designer: that breed of creatives that never recieve the acclaim they deserve!!!

I loved the way this ident was animated; and especially the accompanying signature tune (I think it was called 'waterfall').

As a kid growing up in Dublin my Dad would often twiddle around with the crudely installed aerial (a coat-hanger). If directed to our neighbours at no. 64 we would get a fuzzy RTE... redirecting it towards no. 66 would achieve a crystal clear HTV Cymru/Wales broadcast... ahh, my first sights of the masterful HTV ident!!

Brilliant! There was actually two versions of this logo - HTV West (the west went in the negative space on the top) and HTV Cymru Wales (these two words went in the space on the bottom and were split by the 't'). Brilliant! Beautiful! Funtional! Timeless! HTV RIP!

It is such a pity that the ITV Network abandoned what made it great: its regional freshness and diversity... who remembers the other great identities of 'LWT', 'Anglia' and 'Tyne Tees'??

Incredibly strong mark... up until this wonderful book, the 'HTV Aerial' has never received the acclaim it deserves.
