Condolence book for the passing of Pye 'Sunburst'

A guy in Northampton called Ross Macenzie ran an independant company installing audio visual equipment into schools, garages etc. His shop had a faded and dirty sign hanging off the wall, now its sadly gone, along with his shop. You could ALLWAYS rely on PYE

Not having a great deal to do with the PYE brand, but my father was a TV engineer and every time he got a call for one on these, he grumbled . . He fixed all the PYE's :-)

Pye original equipment was world class engineering. Pye branded consumer electronics made by Philips should never be compared to the quality of genuine Pye design. This logo should be in the hands of Pye legacy companies such as Sepura which still trades from Pye's Radio House in St Andrews Road, Cambridge (UK). When Philips sold their worldwide radio telecomms activities in 1996, they retained the Pye brand and a new brand had to be created for the business which was Simoco at the time. Philips' use of the Pye brand for cheap consumer electronics has led to widespread damage of the brand's reputation today.

I had a PYE TV once and it was shite, so i can only view that logo with due derision. Id have pulled the lever on this one myself. And as for phillips i had a stereo system but phillips at that time didnt haver the parts to fix it in the UK, despite selling them hand over fist

Technically the Pye logo lasted longer than that, because Phillips kept using it until about 1986, but it's not the same thing. I want a TubeCube.

Man, I remember looking at this and others on my parent's old LPs. It was the start of something. So many memories, so many smells.

Gosh, the last time I saw this was on an old clip of TV-am, the "Pye Tube Cube". Breakfast TV, Clock-Radio and Cassette player all in one. Never worked out, and the product was axed. Nice logo, though.

'You can rely on, you can rely on...PYE' Had it not been for Philips buying the merged companies of PYE and EKCO we would not have had the pleasure as long as we did( into the 1980s and not 1976). Thank you Dr Philips.

This form is elegant, self-contained and dynamic - I love it!! It's hard to believe it's no longer around – except for antique electronics and old-vinyl. RIP

This great symbol features on many vinyl classics: Bowie, The Kinks, The Searchers ... and the Sesame Street series of albums.

Hard to believe that the PYE sunburst is no longer around... in the 1960s the Pye name and logo were as ubiquitous in Britain as Sony is today. PYE R.I.P.

Wow - PYE is a blast from the past. I remember our first colour TV was a PYE... it’s hard to believe that this once ubiquitous brand is now no more. Surely it is still an equitable brand? Has anyone ever considered reviving it?

It’s really sad that once proud and noble companies are nowadays taken over and completely gutted for short term gain and with no real thought for their history or what they once stood for... PYE R.I.P.
