Condolence book for the passing of British Steel 'S'

Although the Saul Bass bank logo is essentially the same...I dunno, they came out simultaneously, maybe it's a coincidence.>> wikipedia.org/wiki/Saul_Bass

"Regardless of what the the guy says below this is still one of the best logos (ever) in my opinion. Much better than the Saul Bass logo he is sopposed to have ripped off". Generally, I would IGNORE THE IGNORANT!!! "Better than SAUL BASS"IGNORANCE REALLY IS BLISS!!!How's a Rip Off ever BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL??? Its apparent you've never seen the Security Pacific Bank Identity which predates British Steel by several years. As well incorporate one of the First Recorded uses of the Swoosh which predate Carolyn Davidson 1972 Nike Design. Which Highly influenced her work.Words of Wisdom the next time you ELECT to give your UNINFORMED, UNINTELLIGENT and IMBECILIC OPINION. At least have a miniscule amount of knowledge in reference to History about Identity Design.Anyone wanting to see or Compare and Contrast the Original Bass Designed Identity vs British Steel can view my work incorporating SAUL BASS Designed Identities into a SPEAK UP WORD IT. Check the below link to see SAUL BASS' Ingenious Security Pacific Bank Identity. The Swooshes act as an Interlocking Device for the Inner "S" Motif. www.underconsideration.com/speakup/

The replacement of this fine piece of design met with a 'Corus' of disapproval.

David Gentleman's status as a graphic design genius can be seen in this logo design. Used for over 30 years, it perfectly expressed the characteristics of a powerful industrial process with great economy. This, in my view, makes it one of the great marks of the 20th century.

I bekieve this design was, in fact, first used by Simonsen & Slang, Shipbrokers of Oslo, Norway. Hence the conjoined letters 'S'.

I believe this beauty can still BE SEEN in Eindoven next to the trainstation. All trains going north pass a building with this logo.

I recently spotted the faded outline of this masterpiece behind a shiney new Corus logo... oh what a shame!

The Sun Microsystems logo is very similar with 4 S's grouped in a diamond

David Gentleman's Identity is a Ripp Offof THE WORLD's Greatest Designer Logo SAUL BASS. Mr. Bass Designed the Identity forSecurity Pacific Bank in California. For those of you that have not seen Mr. Bass' Identity for Security Pacific Bank. David Gentleman's Identity for Britsh Steel is extracted from SAUL BASS' IDENTITY for Security Pacific Bank. Created long before David Gentleman's BASTARDIZED IDENTITY for British Steel. You can find references of SAUL BASSS Identity for Security Pacific Bank in his Book Idea Special Issue Saul Bass and Associates 1978 page 64. You can also see an example of Saul Bass' Security First National Bank, Los Angeles California page S 12. As Logos are categorized alphebetically in this Book.Book Title: World of Logotypes by Al Cooper 1978 volume 1 ISBN: 0-910158-20-7David Gentleman's Plagerized Identity of Saul Bass' ORIGINAL DESIGN can be found in:World of Logotypes by Al Cooper 1982 page S 27 Volume 3 ISBN: 0-910158-82-7 David Gentleman's Identity is not ORIGINAL. It is a BASTARDIZED IDENTITY from an ORIGINAL IDENTITY DESIGNED BY THE WORLDS GREATEST DESIGNER SAUL BASS.Although, David Gentleman's British Steel Identity is elongated. It is PLAGERIZED.Which is why you will not see David Genleman HERALDED as a GREAT IDENTITY DESIGNER.I have provided you with the evidence.I DEFY anyone to PROVE ME WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see an identity that's not one of the usuals (Next, UPS, CCA...) - I have never seen this in any design book. What else did David Gentleman do?

This logotype didn't go to heaven did it? This one sinned - it underpaid its workers, laid-off thousands and made millionaires of the board!

Why is David Gentleman not recognised for what he is? A graphic design genius (and still going strong: recently he designed many of the 'anti-war' posters in the UK)
