Condolence book for the passing of MetLife 'M + L'

For anyone suffering a little withdrawl from this logo, the Mascoma corporation currently has something a little similar going for it.

Snoopy is NOT a logo. He is an advertising strategy. I am saddened everytime companies get rid of their strong identifiable marks to look trendy. Good marks like the 'M+L' logo transcend time and make for a strong dependable brand.

hi my grandpa designed this logo and i am very proud that so many people like his work. If anyone would like to see any more of Don Ervin's work let me know and i can get some.

I WAS SUPPRISED THIS LOGO DIDN'T SURVIVE!!!!!! :o I thought it was still around. to replace a logo thats been established for years by an artist with Snoopy is just a plain cop out for lack of imagination for a new logo and a poor excuse to promote "Peanuts" >:( Don't get me wrong I like Snoopy, but he's a CARTOON CHARACTER NOT A LOGO! Whats next? Bugs Bunny for State Farm? :P

Utilizing Snoopy as an emblem to represent the company is a positive way to attract attention to those individuals who may not even been in the process of considering the services of MetLife.

With all the work Met has outsourced to India I think the new logo should be a cobra. The image of a snake also represents the current management better.

this logo was a gem... replacing it with a cartoon character - Snoopy!? - is a cynical exercise in positioning.

I rather liked the older Metropolitan Life Insurance logo that featured "the light that never fails" atop the Metroploitan Building. This Metlife thing looks too much like an aluminum company.

I'm sorry, but I just don't trust Snoopy and Co. with my life savings... bring back Sandgren + Murtha's modernist, but reassuring, ident.

The Metlife Identity is one of the GREAT IDENTITIES of our time.Designed by World Renowned Corporate Identity Designer DON ERVIN for Sandgrin & Murha in the 1960s Russell Sandgrin and Joseph Murtha worked for World Renowned Corporate Identity Consultancy Lippincott & Margulies in THE USA Sandgrin & Murtha was an off-shute of Legendary Identity Consultancy Lippincott & Margulies. DON ERVIN's MetLife Identity incorpoates ingenius use of Typpgraphic Elements. Perhaps one of the BEST MARKS in the History of Identity Design. Later another American Identity Muts Yasamura of Identity Consultancy Muts Joy Day and Design repositioned MetLife and Changed the Typography. However maintained the very POWERFUL "ML" Symbol. The new Metlife Identity is a Wordmark Rather shallow compared to the Brand Equity build by DON ERVIN's POWERFUL ML Identity. Using Snoopy to Sell Insurance is an Advertising Agency Strategy. Not a Brand Positioning be Reputable Identity Consultancies.

To be honest, I never liked this mark. I think Metlife's present corporate identity - which incorporates the cartoon figure of Snoopy - is far more effective for an insurance company.
